Though technically not a "podcast" (no RSS feed for subscription, only email) his is a useful resource for folks interested in finding podcasts in English on a variety of topics - and having transcripts to work with!
Designed for intermediate to advanced English learners, this podcast provides materials that aid the learner in increasing vocabulary and listening skills.
Subscribing to the interesting, relevant and topical podcasts at Englishmate is one of the best ways for you to improve your listening and reading comprehension, your vocabulary, your confidence and your general knowledge of the world around you. Because our podcasts are short and played on-demand - whenever you have free time - they suit the busy lives of today's students and office workers. We recommend to our listeners to listen and read the podcast whenever you receive a new one in your email, and if you have enough time, you can listen to more podcasts from the archives. Generally speaking, 2-3 podcasts a week should improve your English dramatically in just a few months.
The Englishmate English podcast (an mp3 audio file) is a free, 5-10 minute presentation made by our professional language coaches and is sent along with a transcript to your email address every time we release a new one (usually every 3-4 days). The coaches have a lively and fun approach, making your learning experience enjoyable and interesting as they talk about different topics on every show – related to both general English and business English. And don't forget, because it's an mp3, you can listen whenever you want.
It's a great way to improve your listening skills, your accent and your vocabulary. All you need is a computer, an internet connection and headphones, and you can listen anywhere, anytime!
Peter McKinnon
A native of Boston, Massachusetts, McKinnon graduated from Suffolk University, MA, with a bachelor degree in Journalism and the Arts. After graduating, he taught English for 3 years in both China and Japan, and since then has continued learning Chinese. Asian culture and history are his key interests, and in the future he would like to pursue a career as a writer living and working in the East – after he gets some solid life experience. McKinnon has been a part-time podcast presenter for Englishmate in Boston for 6 months, and enjoys his work. Currently, McKinnon is also a contributor/writer for the Boston Globe
Lucy Edwards
From Birmingham, England, Edwards graduated from the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, with a degree in Commerce/Law. Having grown up in England, then moving to Australia to do her degree, she now calls America home – at least while she's here in Boston making podcasts with us. Lucy sees her future as a lawyer and wishes to specialize in international law, a career that we are helping her to pursue by supporting her financially with part-time work. Her favorite TV show is Boston Legal and in her spare time she enjoys reading crime and thriller novels and occasionally writing podcast scripts for us.
We also often invite other guests to co-host the show, for variety and to keep it interesting.
