Summary

FSI is an acronym for the Foreign Service Institute, "the (US) Federal Government's primary training institution for officers and support personnel of the U.S. foreign affairs community".

Over the years, the FSI has researched, designed and taught language courses to Foreign Service staff and diplomats. These courses are now available and licensed to the Public Domain.

FSI-Language-Courses.com (and .net) is a sweet and simple website that provides users with the ability to view and download the Foreign Service Institute's courses for 31+ languages. The content is provided by individuals donating time and resources in an overall effort to provide quality languages-learning materials for free worldwide.

In the Hindi section of the site, there is currently a 131-page student text. There are is no audio as yet.

"Here you'll find some useful resources to help you to understand the Hindi Language better. It's spoken by almost 500 million people over the world, the third most spoken language. It's the official language of India, the country with the second largest population in the world. From the History to useful phrases, we're trying to offer a general overview about the language in order to give you a way to get started in Hindi learning. We do NOT aim to write all about Hindi Language, it is almost impossible to achieve :-). But we DO want to hear from you suggestions to improve the site and offer you the content YOU consider more useful. Please fell free to contact us.

For a quick start up please see our Hindi Words section. Just after you can take your first steps into the grammar, but it's just an overview, if you want to take it more seriously, you'll have to study many years. This site has general information about the Hindi language. Also on the site are some useful phrases and many odds and ends about Hindi, such as dialects, dictionaries, forums, newsletters, schools, products, slang and translation.

This site is definitely worth a look for anyone interested in learning about the Hindi language, as well as those learning the language itself.
