This site is a co-production between the British Broadcasting Corporation and the British Council. Both organisations receive funding from the UK government for their work. The project is non-commercial and as such all content and material on the site is and will always be free to access.

Our purpose

We have designed this site to act in three ways:

1. as a forum: to help you as teachers of English exchange your thoughts, ideas and materials
2. as a practical resource: for materials, activities and ideas for your teaching
3. as a theoretical and historical archive: where you can read about teaching ideas and techniques.

Our content

The site is divided into three main sections:

1. Think: where you can find teachers' articles on different aspects of teaching, from classroom practice to learning theory
2. Try: where you will be able to find practical activities which you can download to use in your class, as well as ideas for creating your own activities
3. Talk: where you can contribute - share your ideas and thoughts on any of the articles or other content.

Our audience

The materials on this site are designed for non-native speaker teachers of English working predominantly in secondary education in state schools around the world. As the content increases we hope it will be of interest to teachers of a wider range of age groups and working in other kinds of teaching institutions.
