There's this girl I like like.
She's brazilian but she looks white, and I want to speak in portuguese to her.
And also to know what some brazilians are saying.
And so I could talk to my brazilian friends in their language, cause it sounds cool

Note: I know spanish.

I am a college student living in the United States who will be graduating in 2010. I am very interested in moving to and working in Brazil after I graduate for a multitude of reasons. I have studied Spanish throughout my life, and am currently studying hard learning Portuguese. Does anyone know the best approach for a college graduate to get a job in Brazil and move there to work. Ideally I would like to go to work there immediately after; again that is "ideally". Nevertheless, I am serious about this transition and would greatly appreciate some input from people on here who have moved there or know a lot about the process. Any website links would also be awesome. Thanks and take care.

I want to learn Portuguese as a second language but I cant find a website that will teach me for free. I'm 14 and I remember hearing someone say it's easier for kids and teens to learn new languages. is that true as well?

I know some phrases, but basically I am a total newbie.

Which books will start me off on the right foot? Which books should I get and study first? Portuguese for Dummies??

Also, is Portuguese a difficult language? (I am fluent in English, Japanese, and German, btw, being of American-Japanese ancestry, and having spent my childhood in Germany.)

Muito obrigado! :D

I speak spanish and portuguese. But I dont want to loose my portuguese skills. Just the same with french and german. Because they aren't spoken that often. What do you think I should do?
Reading, writing, watching movies and tv. But nothing is the same as speaking.
Thanks for your help

A guy at work has been flirting with me for a couple of months. We don't get to see each other often, but when we do..he can't keep his hands off me. I know he is interested but he will not ask me out, and I've been reciprocating these little signals for about a month now. Can it be the cultural differences or does it not matter?(There is no language barrier he speaks English and I'm learning portuguese). I'm really confused...should I ask him out?
Ps.I'm 21 he is 25ish ad Brazilian.

I am going to start studying a language this summer but I cannot decide between the two. I know Latin, and I will be teaching myself. Any advice would be awesome!

One of my goals this summer is to learn another language. I was gonna learn Portuguese, but then I read somewhere if you know Italian you would be able to understand a lot of Spanish. I was just wondering if this is true. Also how fast do you think I would be able to learn a romance language because I know Latin?
ps. I will be teaching myself

I'm a native Spanish speaker, if i learn Portuguese will i have a strong accent like when English speakers speak Spanish?

I'm going to be a foreign exchange student, and i would like to go to Portugal. Would it be worth while to go there if i didn't know their language very well? i only want to go there for 6 months, so should i go somewhere else, or go to Portugal?
i speak some spanish so would that help too?
