Portuguese speakers
Portuguese is spoken by around 225 million people.
10 million speakers live in Portugal and 205 million in Brazil. There are 5 million native speakers in Angola and another 15 million that use it as a second language.
Portuguese is also spoken as a second language in Cape Verde by 500,000 people whose first language is a Portuguese creole. In Guinea-Bissau there are 200,000 native speakers and another 750,000 who also speak a variety of Portuguese-based creole.
Mozambique has 1.9 million native speakers and a whopping 10+ million creole speakers who also speak the language as their second.
São Tomé and Príncipe has a population of 120,000 native speakers.
