Digital Dialects was launched in January 2007, originally a by-product of a dissertation reviewing web resources for language learning. The site was conceived as an educational tool for learning languages, and as a guide to online resources.
This Wikipedia article can help those out there lost in what I refer to as TOEFL Salad, meaning the many and varied acronyms for learning and teaching the English language. That includes ESL, EFL, TESL, TEFL, TESOL, ESOL, ESD, EAP, EOL... you get the point.
Of course, the article also does a lot more than that, delving into English learning and instruction in English- and non-English-speaking countries, differences between spoken and written English, systems of simplified English, the many varities of English and more.

At the link below you will find (currently at least) download for all levels of ChinesePod. It's not the 3.1 gigger, there are several options, but it seems to be all there. And legal.

I wanted to throw up a quick link to the free language software download section of Byki.
Byki.com gives away free software for learning 42 languages. This is a gold mine for folks interested in learning the basics of many languages - on no budget!
They also offer a commercial upgrade for $49 USD, reasonable, and you get lots of extras with the upgrade.
Mango Languages offers a paid online language learning platform with lessons and courses for learning a growing number of languages. At the time this article is going up online, these include Brazilian Portuguese, English for Polish speakers, English for Spanish speakers, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Pig Latin!, Russian and Spanish.
The lessons are organized, friendly to the eyes, useful (from a language-acquisition perspective), colorful, feature-rich and are comprised of large amounts of quality learning materials including color-coded text and audio, which allows the learner to hear and see the target language simultaneously.
This website has a growing number of resources for Hindi language learners. There is an active blog and podcast, as well as a dictionary and a resource section with links to many useful Hindi resources.
Just found myself surfing and came across Langmaker.com, a website with info about constructed and auxiliary languages.
Word2Word.com has loads of resources for learning tons of languages. The only reason there isn't a proper write-up of the site yet on Free Language is that there is so much there that we really need to publish many articles to encompass the full spectrum offered!
So this is just a blog entry to bring attention to the overall site, which will be followed by proper articles outlining each of the languages and their resource sections on the site.
